While Kindness goes Unheard discusses American history, in terms of civil liberties and the inalienable rights of citizens, to own and to bear arms, whereby the conflation of defence and self-defence, is considered political, rather than a human rights or governance issue.
Whatever the causes of gun violence, prejudice must not prevail, in particular where mental health concerns exist so allowing a licence to kill, for those so aggrieved, to preserve access to weapons, is likely fear based and maligned.
Whilst gun violence drivers are debated, notwithstanding whether or not it actually occurs, one thing is certain, a country armed against itself is no more civil than a people weaponising hatred for another country or group.
That the media as a mirror for society, can be the very thing that stokes resentment, responsibility must be accepted by those proponents of an agenda that is more than likely best suited to another age.
