Epoch in our Time declares that an event or remnant of time, may serve as a basis for human history, regardless of whether ongoing territorial occupation exists, and that statehood can still be asserted, whilst human rights are denied, to those who have at one time, occupied contested lands.
When a people are infiltrated from nearby or abroad, the situation may involve resources, or lack thereof, to the extent an existence is shared between peoples' who in reality, comprise a single entity or else share resources.
The fact that many countries sharing ethnic and cultural ties, cannot absorb displaced persons, antagonism and confusion from abroad notwithstanding historical denialism, is a recipe for ongoing mayhem and strife.
Wherever oppression exists, so long as it remains unacknowledged, there can never be statehood or a true nation state, in particular when powers that be remain at odds, in terms of past wrongs or otherwise provide military support to those who are already so capable.
